Every player shall pay entry fees. Entries are accepted in order of online entry. Incomplete entries will be placed at the end of the entry list. All checks must be accompanied by an entry form or it will be considered an incomplete entry. If any event is oversubscribed, the entrant(s) will be advised of her/their position on the wait list. Entrant(s) will be notified if a position in the event become available. Entries are limited to a maximum number of players depending on the course being played.
REFUNDS Entry fee will be refunded regardless of reason if SDCWGA is notified before the date of the close of entries. For credit card refunds PRIOR to close of entries, a 3% credit card processing fee will be deducted. On or after the date of close of entries, entry fee may be refunded in the event of injury, serious illness or family emergency if requested in writing within seven (7) days after the date of the tournament and provided the notice of inability to play in the event is received by the Event Director prior to play of the event and golf course has not received payment. All cost per application expended or budgeted by SDCWGA and a $10.00 service charge will be deducted from all refunds, not to exceed entry fees.
PLAYER SUBSTITUTIONS Any player substitution must be approved by the Director in Charge of the event 72 hours in advance of the competition. Any players not meeting this deadline may play in 2 or 4 person events, but their scores may not be considered for the competition. Exceptions will be addressed by the tournament committee in the case of any emergency.
MAJOR TOURNAMENTS:
SDCWGA Championship - The field is limited to 128 players. LOW GROSS over the field from the Championship Tees will be the County Champion.
FOUR-BALL Championship - This is a better ball of partner. The field is limited to 128 players. A maximum difference of 8 strokes is required between partners. If there is more than an 8 stroke difference, the player with the higher handicap with be reduced to meet the 8 stroke differential. LOW NET team will be the Four-Ball Champions.
SPECIAL EVENTS:
County Classic - A partner event with multi-format play, i.e. Scramble, Four-Ball and Alternate Shot. The field is limited to 64 teams.
Roam from Home - An individual event usually held in the Palm Desert area each May. Field is limited to 128 players. Memorial Tournament - A four person event. This is our annual fundraiser for Cancer. Field is limited to 128 players.
FIELD DAYS - Field days are varied format competitions scheduled through the year at selected San Diego County or nearby courses.
CONDITIONS OF PLAY
If a players behavior is deemed offensive while participating in any SDCWGA sponsored event, her eligibility may be terminated at the discretion of the SDCWGA Board of Directors.
Player's attire must conform to the dress code of SDCWGA. Acceptable attire includes tailored shorts or slacks and tailored shirts or knit shirts fashioned for golf. Unacceptable attire includes jeans of any color (or pants fashioned like jeans, with sewn-on hip pockets or rivets), jogging shorts, sweat outfits, T-shirts or tank tops. Shirts without a collar shall have sleeves; shirts without sleeves shall have a collar. Shorts shall be appropriate in length, i.e., no more than 4 inches above the knee or no less than a 6-inch in-seam. A more conservative dress code required by a course will supersede the above.
Blue Flag Policy. SDCWGA will allow the use of "Blue Flags" at all of our events, provided Proof of Disability, issued by the State of California DMV is on file with the SDCWGA office. Such proof must be updated upon each expiration date of the originally provided document. In the event of a temporary disability, a player may send a letter to SDCWGA, along with the event entry, requesting the use of a "Blue Flag". Requests should be accompanied by some documentation that will validate the temporary disability. Each request will be considered on a case-by-case basis, and the player will be notified prior to the close of entries if a Blue Flag will be allowed.
Cell Phone & PDA Policy
Devices such as cell phones, PDAs, etc (i.e., devices that are primarily communication devices, but which may have other potential uses) may be used as follows:
• Using the device to check voicemails, emails, text messages and the internet provided in doing so does not unduly delay play or slow the pace of play to you or your group. The device should only be used to make phone calls in emergency or family related situations.
• Using the device to access information on advice-related matters that was produced prior to the start of the player’s round (e.g., an electronic yardage book, swing tips).
• Using the device to access (but not interpret or process) playing information from previous rounds (e.g., driving distances, individual club yardages, etc).
• Using the device to obtain information related to the competition being played (e.g., the leader board or projected "cut").
• A distance-measuring application may be used, however there must be no other features or application installed on the device that, if used, would be in breach of the Rules.
• Examples of uses of devices such as cell phones, PDAs, etc during a stipulated round that are a breach of Rule 10-2, for which the penalty is disqualification, include:
• A distance-measuring application is used and the device has other “non-conforming” features such as a compass application on the phone if these other features are being used
• Using the device (e.g., a television or radio) to watch or listen to a broadcast of the competition being played.
• Using the device to ask for or give advice in breach of Rule 10-2 (e.g., calling a swing coach).
• Using the device to access information on advice-related matters that was not produced prior to the start of his round (e.g., analysis of strokes made during that round).
• Using the device to interpret or process any playing information obtained from current or previous rounds (e.g., driving distances, individual club yardages, etc) or to assist in calculating the effective distance between two points (i.e., distance after considering gradient, wind speed and/or direction, temperature or other environmental factors).
